Scatter Joy. Womxn's March. A sea of protesters.

Womxn’s March 2017

Once the rally was done at the Womxn’s March, we roamed around the liberal oasis of Judkins Park snapping pictures and taking it all in before beginning our three mile trek to the Seattle Center. The weather kindly cooperated and there was an air of goodwill and harmony all around, despite the crowd of over 100,000 people. I felt happy. I felt like I was among my people.

The actual marching was very slow going, but it gave you lots of time to take it all in. So many signs. So many different kinds of people. So many messages. It was difficult to keep track of who you were with, and to gage how fast you were traveling and if you were keeping pace with the people around you. It was disorienting, liberating chaos.

We arrived at the Space Needle tired and hungry. The buses were packed; they didn’t even stop at our bus stop they were so full. But we eventually made it home, and it was worth it; it was a small price to pay to be a part of the largest march in U.S. history.

I only hope some good comes of it.

xoxo,
Robin
